Residency Program in Cooperation with Nepali Universities - two months at Sagarmatha Choudhary Eye Hospital Lahan and/or at Biratnagar Eye Hospital, Biratnagar.
Tasks to be performed by residents
- OPD Examination: 1,000
- torchlight, direct ophthalmoscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy (monocular & binocular), SL, 90D lens, gonioscopy, streak retinoscopy
- Refractions: 40
- Corneal Ulcer Lab: 20 patients
- scraping, staining and examination of slides, treatment with daily review until discharge
- Low Vision: 20 patients
- low vision assessment, spectacles, magnifiers
- Counselling incurably blind: 20 patients
- mobility, community based rehabilitation, referra
- Pediatric Ophthalmology: 100 children
- visual acuity testing, examination and decision-making
- observation of paediatric cataract surgery
- post-op follow-up (documentation of 5 children)
- counselling of parents
- Vitreo-Retinal Department: 50 patients
- examination and decision making
- fundus drawing (10)
- Glaucoma Clinic: 50 patients
- applanation
- gonioscopy
- disc evaluation
- FDT
- A-Scan: 20 patients
- manual and automated keratometry, axial length measurement
- Retro/Parabulbar anaesthesia: 40 patients
- technique, management of emergencies
- Cataract Surgery: 40-60
- sutured ECCE/PC IOL, stepwise
- first post-op day self-assessment

- according to surgical skills and availability
- Ward-Rounds (daily)
